Health Savings Accounts: A Health Savings Account gives your employees the opportunity to invest in their health and to plan for medical related expenses. With an HSA employees can set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for doctor’s visit and prescription drugs as well as other medical related expenses. Unused balances carry forward each year giving employees more saving and spending flexibility.
Health Reimbursement Arrangements: Companies can elect to reimburse employees’ medical expenses. This is particularly beneficial when the company elects for a lower premium/higher deductible plan. While the company can define the reimbursable expenses, employees benefit from tax free reimbursements while the employer is able to report the amount of expense as a tax deduction.
Medical Expense Reimbursement Plans: Similar to an HRA, a MERP offers employers the flexibility to control the cost of health coverage while maintaining a high level of benefit coverage. However, a MERP is managed on an annual basis with no carryover of benefits or employee accounts. |
